Realgar

Monoclinic Sulfide

As4S4

FeS2

Realgar is the translucent, deep-red gem seen throughout the quartz matrix. The textured, opaque orange substance that covers much of the realgar is pararealgar (AsS), which is a result of realgar breaking down in the presence of air and light.

Orpiment

As2S3

Orpiment has a similar appearance to pararealgar, but has a more yellow hue.

Pyrite

Pyrite is another mineral found in abundance throughout this matrix of quartz.
